Children’s Portraits

My approach

It was taking relaxed natural photographs of my own daughter (now aged eight, that’s her over on the right taken at a shoot I did for her recently) that revived my passion for photography which had been dormant too long.

My  style uses natural light, capturing children being themselves in their own environment – creating a more authentic record of them as they grow and change. This means I end up on the floor chasing after children and babies, rather than posing them awkwardly against dodgy backdrops.

Shoots normally last up to two hours either at your location or at a nearby park or garden. I mainly shoot in the Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Albuquerque areas, but can be talked into going further afield. The key is for the child to be themselves – playing, running around, drawing, exploring: whatever they enjoy.

I’m a Dad, too, so I’m happy to work around nap schedules, cranky times or other normal occurrences.

Most of my clients are looking for high-quality albums or framed art for their walls, as well as gift prints (or smaller albums) for other family members. I also offer digital files for Facebook and other uses.

Get in touch

Drop me an email and we can have a preliminary chat about what you’re looking for, and we can take it from there. You should know that my availability during the week is pretty limited at present – I’m working on a full-time project – but weekends often work.

Here’s more information on how it works.
